"Bourne to Play Softball" Instructional League

As the name indicates, this league is strictly instructional. Girls residing in Bourne who are in kindergarten, first or second grade are eligible to participate. This program runs on Saturdays for 6-8 weeks beginning in late April or early May through the end of school.

A typical Saturday morning program will involve girls being broken into several groups and participating in skill building activities at several "stations". Once the girls have moved through each station, the group will be split into two teams in order to play a game. Players will either hit the ball from a tee or the instructional league coaches will pitch to the players during the games. 11" safety softballs will be used to help ensure players safety and build their confidence. The ultimate goal of the instructional league is to teach the girls the basics of the game in a fun, friendly environment with the hope that they will continue on in Bourne Youth Girls Softball in future years.

Every girl will receive a league T-shirt and a pair of pants.

Once teams are selected, practices are held for 2-3 weeks prior to games being played. Each team will play a minimum of 10 to 12 games in the regular season followed by single elimination playoffs. Games will be 6 innings long, weather and daylight permitting and are played on Mondays and Wednesdays. Practices and makeup games will be scheduled according to field availability and coaches' preference.

This league will use 11" softballs with players pitching from a distance of 35 feet from home plate. Games will follow USA 10U rules except where those rules have been overridden by local league rules.

Every girl will receive a league T-shirt and a pair of pants. Teams placing first and second in the playoffs will receive trophies.

Summer Traveling Program

We also offer a summer traveling program for 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U age groups. The objective of the program is to emphasize hard work, goal achievement and team play. The program’s goal is to provide an enjoyable experience and encourages each girl to advance to a level commensurate with her talent and desire. These girls are committed to the game of softball. We strive for excellence and we learn from mistakes which enable us to compete against some of the best softball organizations each and every week.

We focus on total player development, building a tradition for the future of our girls, to improve their tactical and technical softball training, and most of all, team participation and camaraderie.

We seek to positively impact athletes by encouraging sportsmanship, respect for players, coaches, umpires, spectators and by providing these athletes the opportunity to achieve their potential.

We play "A" level Fastpitch softball and compete in USA, NSA and PONY tournaments throughout the Northeast area along with the States and the Regionals. We also compete in the Cape Cod Girls Softball League with games being played twice during the week. League play begins in mid-June and runs through the end of July with playoffs scheduled for the first week of August.

We couldn't accomplish all that we have over the years without the hard work of all our players, volunteer coaches, and the support of the parents. Thanks to all of you who make our organization as strong as it is each and every day.
